Cover maker preset

Funny Facebook covers

A funny cover sets the tone before anyone reads a single post. The trick is to keep the joke short enough to land at phone size and to keep it yours. Memes and screenshots from TV shows are tempting, but they belong to someone else, they go stale fast, and they're usually low resolution.

This preset uses confetti: squiggles, little smiley faces, stars and triangles scattered over a bright background, with a handwritten font. All of the sample one-liners were written by our team.

Tips for humor covers

One joke, not a routine

A cover has room for a single line. If your joke needs a setup and a punchline, put the setup in the main text and the punchline in the small line underneath.

Handwritten fonts suit jokes

Kalam looks like someone wrote on the wall with a marker, which suits self-deprecating humor. For deadpan lines, a plain font like Cabin can be funnier because it looks serious.

Give busy backgrounds a band

Confetti is busy by design. If the contrast estimate under the preview drops below about 4.5:1, set readability to "Color band". It puts a soft strip behind the text without hiding the fun.

Keep it kind

Jokes about yourself, your coffee habit or your plants travel well. Jokes about a group of people tend to start arguments in the comments, and your cover is the first thing every visitor to your profile sees.

Change it often

Humor wears out faster than any other kind of cover. Since the maker keeps nothing and costs nothing, swap the line every few weeks and keep the same style and seed for a consistent look.
