Cover maker preset
Quote and saying Facebook covers
A quote cover is the easiest kind to get right and the easiest to get wrong. One short line on a quiet background reads well on a phone. A paragraph over a busy photo doesn't. This preset starts with the quote card style, a soft dotted backdrop with a card in the middle, and keeps the text inside the part of the cover the phone app shows.
Every sample line on this page was written by the My FB Covers team. Use one as it is, change a word, or replace it with something you actually say. Click "Next sample line" to cycle through them.

Tips for quotes & sayings covers
Keep it short
Aim for one sentence, ideally under 12 words. Facebook shows your cover at roughly 360 pixels wide on many phones, so a 25-word quote ends up in tiny type. If you love a longer saying, cut it down to the part people remember.
Pick a font that matches the mood
Abril Fatface and Bree Serif feel bold and settled, which suits sayings about resilience or work. Pacifico and Kalam look handwritten, so they suit warmer, personal lines. A plain sans like Cabin or Josefin Sans works when the words are already strong and need no extra character.
Watch the contrast reading
Under the preview the maker estimates the contrast between your text and the background behind it. Anything under about 3:1 gets hard to read on a bright phone screen outdoors. Switch the readability option to "Color band" or pick a darker palette if the number is low.
Leave the lower left alone
Your profile photo covers the lower-left part of the cover on both phone and desktop. The maker keeps text centered for that reason. If you move it, use "Right side" rather than dragging attention toward the photo.
Credit carefully, or write your own
If you use someone else's words, check that they're short, actually theirs (misattributed quotes are everywhere) and old enough to be safe. Our guide to text on covers covers readability, and the copyright guide covers borrowing.
Questions
Can I put a famous quote on my cover?
Short quotes from people who died long ago are usually public domain, but recent quotes, song lyrics and lines from books or films can still be protected. The sample lines here were written by our team, so you can use them freely, or type your own words.
How long can the quote be?
The maker shrinks the text to fit, but covers read best at about 12 words or fewer. On a phone the cover is small, so long quotes turn into gray texture.
